A quick picture i did for my lit mythology class (Of heroes, gods and men in skirts). Its part of the final assignment for the 3 week long course. I took 2 days to do it. tee-hee slacked.
anyway, i did it in a new style inspired by shirotsuki's. the only which i like (and spent the most time on is the hair and the face). the anatomy for the body is screwed, but its too late to change. actually i dislike the entire bottom half of the picture. the colouring is very amatuerish work (oh well. i am one anyway) . + screwed lines. I must have gotten tired there. the little flying creatures are cute too actually. i figured i'm not cut out for evil stuff. they are alot harder to draw. (many many wrinkles and distored features vs. clean neat face and features ...in my case i simply used a circle. -.- ah..pure lazyness)
ok, back on track. in this scene, pandora is relieved to see hope after accidentally releasing all the evils of the world out. (which according to sources are supposed to resemble moths. but i did bats). other details in the myth are a carved box and golden ropes tying the box up.
the flower on her head is called pandora's box. irrelevant to the myth though.
Lit Mythology class? How freakin cool is that? The only thing we study here is Shakespear Shakespear Shakespear and "Clay marble" for lower sec. XD I don't take lit anymore, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.
Anyway, for your piece, I couldnt tell if the girl was happy or sad. It's probably because of the shape of the eye-brows (they curve a bit too much, I think it should be flatter, more like a straight line.) The mouth could use some work too (if it was meant to be sad, that is.)
about the expression..shes not exactly sad. its relieve. Pandora was crying until she saw hope you see. hmm..i had some problems with the expression especially the eyebrows. (cause if you are sad its curved up / \ but shes a mixture of shock *raised eyebrows*, relieve *part happy* plus a hint of the previous sadness.)-.- maybe i'm just complicating things and its really just simple. ahh...screw.
as for lit.. heh. i dropped it in sec 3. languages have always been my poorest subjects and i stuck with the conventional science path, so no lit . but i enjoyed the lit mythology module nonetheless. (its over now though) alot of betrayal, incest and adulterous affairs among the gods and men. i bet the people who wrote it are guys.-.-
